What is religion?

I went to Qom, it is one of the most famous holy place in Iran. This day was Friday, it is the adration day in Moslem. Many laity went to Qom.

At about 5PM, the laity went to the mosque. 1st, they washed their hands and feet. 2nd, they entered in the mosque for bend the knee to the god. By the way, there is the mausoleum, all people touched it. Finally, they arrived the hall and bended the knee to the god.

All people bended the knee to the god, seriously. I watched their daven, I felt pressure in the chest. It was real austerity. I considered "What is religion?", seriously.

In Japan, some ceremonies, for example "marriage" and "funeral", people approach seriously. But these case are rare and Japanese people have a little awareness of religion. I think before WWII, Japanese poeple believed thier goverment, and goverment appealed "our war is to release Asia from Europe, our actions are right things.". These were a kind of religion. But we lost and lost our believe. After war, we believed "Economical development connect our happines.", our parents were worked very very hard.

In this day, I went another mosque. This one is more homey, children played and sometimes child carried on his parent "Please play.", "Please go anywhere.". I felt amused when I watched these scenes. My serious and tight tension was cleared. And I thought "Religion is the extension of daily life, this is better than serious metaphysical."
