ホータンは絨毯とホータン石の他、ウイグルのマーケットでも有名。 ホータン石はシルクロードの交易以前に中国の殷の首都へ送られていたし、 絨毯もアフガニスタンのカブール、イランのエスファハン、イラクの バグダットを経由して西へと運ばれていた。 （以上、地球の歩き方「西安とシルクロード」ダイヤモンド社より） 朝に日本人バックパッカーの人と土曜のマーケットを散策した。
otan is famous of "Hotan stone". This stone was exported to Xian (China), Anyou (The capital city in Yin dynasyty China) before 4,000 years. This is more old than Silk Road. Another spciality is Hortan carpet. These two items were exported to Rome through Carvour (Afghanistan), Esfahan (Iran), Baghdad (Iraq).
