　アレッポでは石鹸購入も観光も済ましたので、シリアで一番有名な遺跡がある 「パルミラ」へ移動することに。アレッポから東へ150kmの所にあるラッカへ走るものの、 11月中旬になるとシリアでも随分と寒い。 日中は気温が12℃ほどしか上がらず、「寒い寒い」と言いながら立ち寄った 小さな村の食堂で、英語が話せるアレッポ大学の学生「ムハンマド」に会った。 食堂は彼の親戚が経営しており、結局、食事代は要らないと言われる。 「シュクラム（アラビア語で「ありがとう」）。古代文明の源となったユーフラテス河を見て、 ダッカ手前から南へ方向を変える。途中でルスフェンの都市跡を見て、日没後も走って 19時前にパルミラへ到着。町の手前で入った食堂で400SP（約800円）も請求されたり、 ホテルの案内をしてやったから金を寄越せ「バクシーシ」と言われたり、 アレッポの感覚と違うので初日から嫌に感じる。止めは深夜に起きた腹痛と吐き気。 高い金を取られた食事で食中りとは・・・・
After did the shopping and sight-seeing at Aleppo, I moved to Palmyra it has the famous of relic. First, I headed east "Raqqa". But it was cold, about 12 degree in the daytime. I was hungry and wanted to drink hot tea, I droped into one local restaurant. One guy talked to me in English, he was Machmad, university student. This restaurant owner was his homey, finally he said "No pay". Thanks Machmad and his homey! I watched Euphrates river, I headed south at near Raqqa. By the way of Palmyra, I stopped at the old city remains "Rusphen". I droved until 7PM, I arrived Palmyra. I entered one restrant near Palmyra center town, stuffs requested 400 Syria Pond (about US$8!). I understood it was daylight robbery, I felt bad feeling in Palmyra. In addition, I had terrible stomach pains and boke late at night. I was added insult to injury...

　翌朝には腹痛も吐き気も収まったが、体はヘロヘロに。昼前に起きて部屋の外に出ると、 ドイツから来ていたサイドカー乗りのカップルに会う。（後日、レバノンのバールベックで再会） 午後は神殿跡と城跡を見学し、インターネットカフェで国際学生証を500SP（約1,000円）で作成。 たまたま居たイギリスから来ていた人と食事を一緒にし、バックギャモンも教えてもらう。 彼らに会う事で、少し救われた気がした。
Next mornig, stomach pains and boke were finished. But I was tired, I wokeup at lunch time. In my hotel, I met a sidecar couple from German. (After we met at Lebanon again.) In Palmyra, I watched the delubrum and castle on the hill, made an international student licence, played the backgammon with England turist.
