　この日の前日、フランスフックへ向かう道中、路肩で駐車をしていた親子に手招きを受けた。 何かと思い慌ててUターンをして話をしていると、家に泊まっていきなさいと招待される。 （道端で突然出合ってそのままお世話になるのはリスキーと言えるのかもしれないですが・・・） 彼らも車で近隣国を旅行をしたりするので、バイクで、ましてや日本から来たと言う自分は 是非とも泊まっていきなさい、とのこともあった。旅をしていると、人からの好意がとてもありがたく感じる。 それと同時に、自分が反対の立場に立った時、自分も同じように旅人に親切でありたいと強く思う。 そんな好意を胸に刻みこんだ翌朝、アフリカ最南端のアガラス岬を目指して走りだした。 （多くの人は喜望峰がアフリカ最南端と勘違いしています。実際、途中で出会ったバックパッカーは 喜望峰が最南端と思って北上してきていました・・・） 丁度この日が日本を離れて9ヶ月目の最後の日。午後1時30分ごろ、今回のツーリングをスタートしてから 273日と約4.3万kmを走り、ついにアフリカ最南端へ到着。爆発的な嬉しさは無かったが、 緩やかだが心の底からじんわりと にじみ出てきた達成感を感じた。2001年3月に日本の最西端の与那国島へ着いた時、 ここが自分にとって最も果ての地と思っていた。しかし、それよりももっと遠くの場所へ来てしまった。 思えば遠くへ来たものだ。そして、やってみれば人間、何とかななるものだな、とも。
When I drove my motorycycle at yesterday evening, one family beckoned me. I asked thme "where is a cheap hotel?" and told my touring. Before they traveled on their camping car, they invited their house. It was very lucky. Many people had followed me manytimes. So someday I have to and want to return their kindness for other tourists. In this day 1:30 PM, I could arrive most south point in Africa "Cape Agulhas". I used 273 days and 43,000 km from my apartment in Japan to here. I had small but certain accomplishment from at the bottom my heart. At length, at last, at long last, I arrived Cape Agulhas!!!
